sound effects…good times!”

Our little boy is here which means my pregnancy journal is complete. The second half didn’t fly by as fast as the first, but it was all worth it to have our little Colin at the end. Take a look at my second half of pregnancy:

Pregnancy: Christmas Gender Reveal

“A new baby is like the beginning of all things
wonder, home, a dream of possibilities.”
– EDA J. LE SHAN

We told our family and friends on we were having a boy with a Christmas reveal. For our parents that we saw on Christmas Eve night and Christmas day, we wrapped an ornament filled with confetti. Our friends and family received cards in the mail for them to open on Christmas day. See how they turned out!

Pregnancy: Annoucement

“Thanks, but I feel like it’s one of those cheesy dad mugs.”
– CORBIN PERRY

So it been a while, but I had a good excuse. I’ve been busy (not to mention tired and sick) trying to grow a baby. Yes, we are having a baby! See how I told everyone the good news:

rachelperry_announcement1

I make Corbin’s coffee every morning, so I had an idea a while back to get him a “dad” mug and have it facing the other way so when he took a look at it he would know. I didn’t expect him to not notice it was a new mug though. He walked around with it for about a half hour until I asked him if he liked his new mug. He only looked at the backside which said “Life is Good” and replied “Thanks, but I feel like it’s one of those cheesy dad mugs.” I then told him to “look at the front” which said “Best Dad Ever.” He just laughed and had a huge grin.

rachelperry_announcement3The next people we told were Corbin’s mom and stepdad because we had a weekend planned to visit them. I thought I would keep the mug thing going and made them two with an oil-based Sharpie and plain mugs.

rachelperry_announcement4My mom was next with my sisters. I included a cinnamon bun with the mugs for a breakfast package. Everyone was thrilled about the first grand baby!

rachelperry_announcement5This is one of the matching mugs for my sisters.

rachelperry_announcement6Now that our close family knew, it was time to let our friends know about our news. They got a package like this with a card (see below) that had a personalize message.

rachelperry_announcement7rachelperry_announcement8My friend, Ashley, was actually the first one to know I was pregnant because she told me she was. It’s pretty crazy that our due dates are two days apart! I didn’t want her to feel left out about not getting a mug so I made her the one pictured above.

rachelperry_announcement9My coworkers were greeted one Monday morning with a message letting them know there were “buns in the oven” for them to enjoy.

rachelperry_announcement10Corbin sent a message to his friends and family members asking what they thought of his new mug shot.

rachelperry_announcement11To tell the rest of our friends, Ashley and I wore matching skeleton costumes to our friend Halloween party.

Now it may seem like everyone knows, but we still had to announce on social media which is where we used the first photo with of both holding our mugs. Be on the look out for belly shots and the gender reveal!

Back to School: Story-Inspired Lunches

“Logic will get you from A to Z:
Imagination will get you everywhere.”
– ALBERT EINSTEIN

After people ask me what I do for a living, they are usually so fascinated when I say I am a graphic designer. I get a lot of “Wow, that must be fun!” and I can say they are right to an extent. My job is fun, but it is still work and I do spend 9 hours a day there so it is not the great time that people think it is. The next few weeks I am going to show you some of the really fun aspects of what I do at work. Behind-the-scenes there is a lot of running around, crossing fingers that ideas work, and juggling all my other responsibilities. Okay, I know you don’t believe me that it is hard work, but see for yourself!

Back to School: 7 Steps to the Perfect Lunch

“You don’t have to cook fancy or complicated masterpieces,
just good food from fresh ingredients.”
– JULIA CHILD

Working in the editorial world means that my calendar is always a few months ahead which means I have been thinking about back to school season for months now. I know it is crazy since we are still in the middle of summer, but I figure it might be fun to show you what I’ve been doing so that you are ready when the new school year begins. It will be here sooner then you think! These can be used for adults too! Since I don’t have kids, my husband will be getting some fun lunches!

Wedding: Decor & Sweets

“I just want to make beautiful things
even if nobody cares. It’s for me!”

Looking at these images really brings me back to the day before where we set everything up. I was so blessed to have everything feel as though it fell into place. I could not have asked for better people in my life! I really felt like the luckiest girl in the world and I still do.

This was one of Corbin’s projects. He cut the signs out of old pallets and I painted on them.
rachelperry_wedding_decor2
I put the fan programs in a crate that we used to hold magazines in our living room.
rachelperry_wedding_decor3
The weather forecast said 0% of rain the entire week. What more could a bride ask for?
rachelperry_wedding_decor4
Our reception look place in an old horse sable that had been converted into a dining hall. It had some vintage horse photos and the old stall doors were used for the restrooms.
rachelperry_wedding_decor5
We wanted a simple guestbook that we could hang in our house.
rachelperry_wedding_decor6
We asked guests to sign a heart with their name.
rachelperry_wedding_decor8
This now hang in our hallway and I love looking at it everyday.

The table had a satin tablecloth and then I overlaid with lace.
rachelperry_wedding_decor10
We sat in the middle of the family style table with friends and family surrounding us.
rachelperry_wedding_decor11
The table had confetti all over it. There were different size circles that I cut out of a sparkly pink, gold and bronze card stock. I also includes old photos of Corbin and I in both color and black and white. The backside had gold paper and a description with the year it was taken.
rachelperry_wedding_decor12
I wanted to find a nice way to display the sparklers for the end of the night. I attached paper circles that I stamped with text and embossed. On the back, there was a circle of sandpaper and a match.
rachelperry_wedding_decor13
I could not be more happy with how the dessert bar turned out. My bridesmaid, Megan, made our cake which was funfetti. She did and awesome job!
rachelperry_wedding_decor14
One of my coworkers, Chelsea from Elsie’s Goodies, makes the most amazing cupcakes, so I asked her if she could make some for the wedding. These are her apple pie ones.
rachelperry_wedding_decor15
These are the raspberry vanilla ones, they were filled with fresh raspberry filling.

Corbin’s only request when it came to desserts was that he wanted a chocolate cupcake.
